Yankees Acquire Third Baseman Todd Frazier

The recipient of a bachelor's in economics from Holy Cross College, Chuck Grom is an experienced market researcher who primarily analyzes department store stocks. In his free time, Chuck Grom enjoys following his favorite Major League Baseball (MLB) team, the New York Yankees.

Seeking to improve its chances of making the playoffs, the Yankees pulled off a blockbuster trade in mid-July by acquiring power-hitting third baseman Todd Frazier from the Chicago White Sox. New York also acquired relievers David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle in the deal in exchange for Tyler Clippard and prospects Blake Rutherford, Ian Clarkin, and Tito Polo.

Although Frazier has played at third base for most of his career, he could be a valuable asset for the Yankees at first base. New York's first basemen have hit for a collective .208 batting average this season, while Frazier, who has over 700 innings of experience at the position, has hit .234 and recorded nine home runs since the beginning of June. Robertson, meanwhile, previously played seven years with the Yankees, during which time he posted a remarkable 2.81 earned run average (ERA). Likewise, Kahnle formerly pitched in the Yankees minor league system, but never played for the big league club. This season, as a member of the White Sox, he recorded an impressive 2.50 ERA.
